Welcome to the Remote Administration demonstration. This site is an example of what can be done with the API. Mavieo does not dictate how your content is presented. Think of Mavieo as the noodles in your pasta dish. Without them, the dish wouldn't be much. However, with them you're free to provide a robust meal with any presentation you can conceive.

Mavieo is an excellent solution for:

What Mavieo Is

Mavieo is a Remote solution. This means that your website can be developed in any language you choose. Mavieo is an instant administration suite that will feed your website data through XML communcations (Mavieo API).

However, we do currently provide our demonstration website source code available (currently only in PHP) for those who wish to use it as a jumping off point.

What Mavieo Is Not

Mavieo is not comparable to: WordPress, Joomla, Movable type, Mambo, OpenSource CMS, SilverStripe, Drupal, or any other open source or commercial content management software.

Mavieo is not a classic hosted solution.

Mavieo does not require installation.

Mavieo does not require any specific server side language.

Enhanced Security

Moving the site administration to Mavieo relieves you from the worry of common attack techniques. If a user attacks and brings down your server, none of your content goes missing. While it may be a massive annoyance, at least you are not out all of your hard work.

Mavieo also protects itself from such attacks by staying on top of security patches, kernal updates, issuing redundant backups and employing common sense practices.

   • Create as many menus as you wish. Menu items can be easily linked to the dynamic modules as well as to a static web site. The ability to assign a link target and onclick action further enhance your menus.

Dynamic Link Generation

Mavieo also has a unique "dynamic link generation" scheme. We found that other solutions often failed miserably in this area requiring the user to memorize some obscure url and know an the items id. While our solution isn't perfect, we think it is a big step in the right direction.

Through a small form that is available in the right menu, users can select a module, and then select a module content item by name and have the link generated for you.

This concept may sound confusing now, however there is power in its madness. Allowing you to link to an id is a must. If you were to create links using hard coded text, and for some reason that document file name changed, all of your links pointing to that document would be outdated and irrelevant. Our method allows all of the links to remain current and more importantly, relevant to the actual document title because the link is generated on the fly.

Requirements

Mavieo is a remote site administration tool with an API for building the front-end. This allows our customers to create their website in whatever language they are most comfortable in.

Currently, the "demo" web site is available in PHP format only - we hope to change this soon.

To run the demo web site on your own server, the following is required:

1. PHP 5+
2. Curl
3. FTP access (optional)
   • Mavieo uses this to store all of your uploaded documents, images, and backups to your web server.
   • Without FTP access, Mavieo will replace the file and image fields with a notice that FTP is not configured. Backups will also only be available via download instead of download and as a direct transfer to your web server.
